A message of gratitude from your president

Sep 23, 2016
We’re coming to the end of the Kiwanis year—so I’m coming to the end of my term as Kiwanis International Foundation president—and I feel proud. Thanks to the generosity and support of the Kiwanis family, together, we have achieved amazing results.
Because Kiwanians gave to the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, we improved the lives of children. In fact, our board approved 19 grants to support Kiwanis-led projects—impacting more than 14 districts.
Earlier this year, the Kiwanis International Foundation Board of Trustees increased endowment spending for programs from four percent to five percent. This allows our foundation to support more Kiwanis-family projects around the world.
We witnessed the strength of Kiwanis communities when disaster struck Louisiana. The Kiwanis International Foundation granted nearly US$60,000 to help Kiwanis clubs and the district with flood cleanup assistance.
In the past year alone, Kiwanis funds have helped UNICEF reach more than 9 million women in nine countries through The Eliminate Project. And in the last six months, we have celebrated two more countries eliminating MNT—leaving only 19 countries at risk.
What a year!
In essence, if you made a gift in 2015–16, you improved the life of a child. And for that, I thank you.
Take pride in knowing that your generosity perhaps helped a club feed a hungry child. Or that you helped purchase supplies to refurbish a school in Africa. Or that you helped UNICEF provide lifesaving vaccines to women in remote areas of the world.
I am incredibly grateful for the past 12 months and hopeful for the future of our foundation.
Yours in Kiwanis service,
Mark Rabaut
