COVID-19 Response Program

Program overview

Kids need Kiwanis more than ever. Thanks to our members’ generous support, the Kiwanis Children’s Fund has established a program to help Kiwanis clubs meet the urgent needs of children and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, kids need Kiwanis more than ever. Read more about our grant program below or make a gift to help Kiwanians meet the needs of children around the world.

What's eligible

When times are hard, Kiwanians want to help. That’s who we are. The COVID-19 Response Program was designed to quickly award grants to kick-start projects that help children and families who have encountered hardships due to the pandemic.

Kiwanians pride themselves on their hands-on projects, but that type of club engagement might not be possible during this time. Please follow the guidance of your local health officials regarding club meetings and projects. Our top priority is the safety and health of our members, so please stay safe.

We understand the scope of projects will vary, and we will accept requests for grants up to US$2,500. We aim to award grants in an expedient manner to help your club quickly get your project up and running. Possible projects include:

Health: Sew or purchase face masks for families; partner with an area organization to provide food from local restaurants to families in need; donate to a local food bank; purchase diapers or other infant needs for a local shelter.

Education: Supply e-learning materials or tech support for students; purchase books that can be safely delivered to children or read aloud virtually; partner with an organization to provide child care for families of essential workers; plan safe, creative graduation celebrations for high school seniors.

The program will be administered by these guidelines:

  1. All requests are first come, first served and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  2. The project must support activities related to health (includes meeting children’s basic needs) or education in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  3. To support as many clubs as possible, we are offering a maximum of $2,500 to support or fund your project.
  4. All grant funds must be spent within 90 days of the grant approval.
