“Serena” Quek of Johor Bahru Johor, Malaysia, was appointed trustee of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund in 2019. Serena has been named distinguished lieutenant governor and distinguished club president. She served as the district chair for Malaysia from 2014-15 and began serving as a district chair for the Kiwanis Children’s Fund in 2016.

Serena began participating in Kiwanis service projects in 1991 when her husband, Simpson Tan, joined the Johor Bahru Club. She joined the club in 2008 and became a member of the Kiwanis Club of Taman Pelangi in 2016. In addition, she is a club advisor for the Kota Tinggi and Nusajaya Kiwanis clubs in Malaysia and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Serena is a member of the Founders Circle and a Walter Zeller Fellow, and she has received the Mother’s Day Zeller. She is a George F. Hixson Fellow and received the Distinguished Service Award. She has also received a club opening certificate of appreciation and the new club building award from The Formula.

As a trustee of the Children’s Fund, Serena’s goal is to extend the impact of Kiwanis, making sure that gifts help children throughout the world in many ways.
