KIWANIS CHILDREN’S FUND PRESIDENT-ELECT


Norm Velnes of Winnipeg, MB, Canada was appointed to serve a three-year term on the Kiwanis Children’s Fund Board, effective October 1, 2015, and re-appointed to serve an additional one-year term. He is currently serving as president-elect.

Norm served as 2003-04 governor of the Western Canada District; lieutenant governor for Division 2, in 2001-02; and, president of the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg in 1992-93. Norm is a member of the Mel Osborne Fellowship and has been a Kiwanian since 1984. He is also a Walter Zeller recipient.

In addition to Kiwanis service, Norm has been chair of the Speaker’s Bureau of the United Way of Winnipeg; served as board member of Golden West Centennial Lodge; Vice-Chair at Winnipeg Presbytery Foundation, United Church of Canada; and, is past chair of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners.

Norm is the Fundraising Consultant with The Velnes Group. As a former Foundation district chair, Norm supports the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, knowing it has the ability to combine the resources of Kiwanians around the world to make significant impact on both global and local issues. The benefit of Kiwanis in the communities allows the Foundation to become involved in a wide range of projects ranging from local needs to The Eliminate Project. He believes the Foundation has great capacity to become a change agent.

Norm and his wife, Margaret, have four children and five grandchildren.
