Dent a car, make a difference

Oct 06, 2016

Rochelle Township High School’s Key Club had a smashing good time at their fundraiser earlier this year. The club demolished a car in support of The Eliminate Project, our global fundraising campaign to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus.

For a small contribution people took a turn smashing the donated vehicle—helping protect moms and babies with every strike. They charged US$1 for a swing or $5 for six, raising $150 in three hours.

Key Club members hosted this event during a festival in August so that event passersby could watch or become motivated to participate in the demolition.

The Key Club is supported by their sponsoring club, Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K, which also supports The Eliminate Project. The club has participated in the fundraising campaign since its inception more than five years ago.
