Building new opportunities on Kiwanis One Day

Mar 23, 2016

An annual tradition in Junction City, Kansas brings new opportunities for children this year thanks to a local Kiwanis club and the Kiwanis International Foundation.

In honor of Kiwanis One Day, the Junction City South club members clean up their local park. They work with the city park staff in determining what needs painted, repaired, cleaned and planted. But this year brings even more excitement.

The groundbreaking ceremony for their Coronado Park Basketball Court project is scheduled for that morning. The Kiwanis International Foundation board approved funding for this project during its February board meeting.

“Coronado Park is our club’s sponsored park,” says Jim German, Junction City South club secretary. “We are excited to be able to improve ‘our’ park by cleaning it up during Kiwanis One Day and adding features like the basketball court.”

The club invites the local community and Kiwanis family members to get involved, including Key Club members and children who participate in Big Brothers Big Sisters.
