Resources for your Kiwanis foundation

Oct 07, 2015

The Kiwanis International Foundation serves as a resource for other foundations in the Kiwanis family. This month we want to share a few important websites that can help district and local foundations succeed.

Council on Foundations
cof.org: The Council on Foundations provides the opportunity, leadership and tools needed by philanthropic organizations to expand, enhance and sustain their ability to advance the common good. The Council empowers professionals in philanthropy to meet today's toughest challenges and advances a culture of charitable giving in the U.S. and globally.

Charity Navigator
charitynavigator.com: By evaluating more than 5,400 charities in the United States and hundreds of organizations with international operations, Charity Navigator helps donors make informed giving decisions and enables well-run charities to demonstrate their commitment to proper stewardship of donor gifts. Their website features opinion pieces by Charity Navigator experts, donation tips and lists which rank organizations’ efficiency in a number of categories.

Giving USA
givingusa.org: Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy is the seminal publication reporting on the sources and uses of charitable giving in the United States. For 59 years, fundraisers, nonprofit leaders, donors and volunteers, scholars and other individuals who work in or with the charitable sector have counted on Giving USA to provide the most comprehensive charitable giving data available.

Kiwanis International Foundation Donor Advised Fund
kiwanis.org/foundationOne way our foundation serves as a resource to Kiwanis-family foundations is through our donor advised fund program. Kiwanians have the capability to make their own grants, for specific purposes that are meaningful to them. A donor advised fund is a permanent, endowed fund that is available through the Kiwanis International Foundation to individual Kiwanis members, as well as their families, and Kiwanis organizations. With a donor advised fund, you make an irrevocable, tax-deductible gift to our foundation, and then recommend grant distributions to qualified charitable organizations.

Don’t forget that the Kiwanis International Foundation has other resources available on our website.
