Clean drinking water. Backpacks full of school supplies. Scholarships for higher education. Immunizations to protect mothers and babies from a deadly disease. Now in our 78th year, the resolve of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund to help children thrive, prosper and grow is stronger than ever. Because kids need Kiwanis.
Our many accomplishments around the world have been made possible because of the support of loyal Kiwanis club members and community supporters. Our collaboration with clubs and districts extends the impact Kiwanians make. Most importantly, the work of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund is heard in the laughter of kids swinging on the playgrounds we helped fund or seen in the smiles on children's faces when they receive a book, new shoes or a winter coat.
The Kiwanis Children’s Fund continues to pave the way for significant global and local health efforts, as it has since 1939. UNICEF heralded our Iodine Deficiency Disorder efforts to reduce the number of children with preventable mental disorders as one of the greatest public health accomplishment of the 20th century. And now we are on the verge of creating a world where all mothers and babies no longer worry about death from an easily preventable disease. The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus already reduced the number of MNT deaths to fewer than 100 a day. We will not stop—we cannot stop—until that number is zero.
